This December, SV9mm is planning our 2nd Jeff Cooper Memorial Tournament, an IPSC Level 1 competition. One of our members has designed this wonderful banner for the event, and I wanted to take the opportunity to share it with you.

Please consider this a heartfelt greeting from all of us here in Austria to you and everyone over there who remembers us.

Jeff Cooper’s spirit and philosophy are still very much alive here at the Cooper Range. …

“The Cooper Shelf,”
a JCLF Library Initiative

September 12, 2026 Lindy Comments 0 Comment

Dear Fellow American,

In this special year of the 250th anniversary of the founding of our country and the 50th anniversary of the founding of Gunsite, we here at The Jeff Cooper Legacy Foundation thought it fitting to introduce “The Cooper Shelf,” our library initiative for shooting clubs all across the U.S.A.

In accordance with Jeff Cooper’s dedication to proficiency with personal firearms, the right of Americans to keep and bear arms, the importance of education and the power of the written word, we want to do something meaningful toward encouraging reading, most especially of works pertaining to history and firearms in general.

If you are a shooting/gun club with a place to meet and space for a library, we are offering to seed your own version of The Cooper Shelf with a selection of Jeff Cooper’s books to get you started. Our hope is that your organization can build on this initiative and create a comfortable meeting place for a great collection of books and other written material for the enjoyment of your members. It may also become an entity to which your members may donate their own pertinent collections.

To this end, we ask you to respond to this message by completing the online application HERE.

Selected clubs will receive one collection of the following titles:

C Stories
Yukon Journal
Shotluck
FireWorks
To Ride, Shoot Straight, and Speak the Truth
Gargantuan Gunsite Gossip 3
Another Country

Only 25 collections are available. The first 25 responders who complete the application and are approved by our Board will be selected to receive this complimentary collection.

Congratulations to our latest scholarship recipient, Kim Pastore. August 7, 2026

What Kim had to say about her experience:

I am so proud to have been selected for the Jeff Cooper Legacy Scholarship. After losing my husband in the Line of Duty, I had to find a path forward. I had shot occasionally with Jorge but mostly to familiarize myself with the firearms in our home. After he was killed I was invited to attend a training. I spent 2 days learning how to shoot from fundamentals to movement. I was in way over my head but the care and attention the instructor gave me made the experience incredible. I quickly realized that while I was shooting my mind was free of grief and sadness. I had to focus on what I was doing. Safety was of utmost importance and I was learning a lot in a short amount of time. I woke up the next day craving that feeling of focus and clarity. I started to shoot more and connected with Randy Wallen who has become a dear friend. He took me shooting and got me ready for my first Tactical Games Skirmish. He shared everything he learned from Gunsite and frequently referred to the teachings of Jeff Cooper. He made me aware of the scholarship and said that a week at Gunsite would be lifechanging. …

Greg Moats

Read Gregs Obituary Here

Ravens,

The shooting community has lost one of its finest advocates with the passing of Greg Moats. Greg served his country as a United States Marine. Upon leaving the Marine Corps he became an avid shooter. He attended the original Columbia, Missouri convention that established the International Practical Shooting Confederation, from which all of the current practical shooting disciplines owe the success. He was a multiple Gunsite graduate, avid shooter in many different disciplines and a widely published author of numerous columns and internet postings on a wide variety of topics related to shooting.

Upon moving to Wyoming, he built a superb range and hosted a wide variety of noted trainers that conducted classes for shooters across the US that travelled to Greg’s facility not just to take part in the training, but to enjoy the wonderful hospitality at his home, where his lovely wife, Charlotte, provided great meals in a family atmosphere for the participants.

Greg was a consistent participant in the Jeff Cooper Theodore Roosevelt Memorial at the NRA facility at Whittington, New Mexico, often bringing his four-wheeled off-road buggy to lend essential support to the range setup. But more importantly, he often took part in the declamations with original poems that left everyone in stitches. His attendance at these events was one of the draws that kept people coming back.

But most importantly, Greg was a staunch supporter of our great country, a strong advocate for the 2^nd Amendment, and someone who exuded charm, personality, and a great sense of humor at all times. Those of us who got to know him were blessed in his friendship and he will be sorely missed by all that he touched.

Rest in peace and know the world is a better place for having had you in it.
